Preventative Care – Cattle

SUGGESTED PROCEDURES FOR PREVENTATIVE CARE

(Click to download PDF document to print).

ALL ANIMALS NEED TO BE DETOXED AND BOOSTED
C-1 IMMUNE DETOX AND C-2 IMMUNE BOOST FIRST. Everything for you will be easier after that intranasal dose, used together, to clean up.

BREEDING
C-17 Metritis: Foul Discharge – Clean up both Bulls and Cows/Heifers on mineral salt 4 weeks out.
Week 3, 2, & 1C-20 Hormonal Wake Up with C-2 Immune Boost – before breeding for Cows and Heifers.

CALVING
2 and 3 WEEKS BEFORE CALVING; C-20 Hormonal Wake Up with C-3 Pro Vitality
1 Week BeforeC-20 Hormonal Wake Up with C-24 Retained Placenta – for ease in delivery. Goal for less calf rejection, less need to turn the calves or birth assist required with good clean up.

CASTRATION AND BRANDING
1 Week before running through the shoot
C-13 Castration, Branding, Stress & Trauma with C-2 Immune Boost – on mineral salt for consumption.
C-13 Castration, Branding, Stress & Trauma with C-2 Immune Boost – used internasal, straight from the spray bottles, 1 dose twice 3-5 min apart is possible.
The goal is to de-stress, provide pain relief, and minimize tetanus vulnerability; resulting in easier handling. It’s okay for ranch hands to use one dose of C-13 Castration, Branding, Stress & Trauma to mellow out from this stressful procedure.

LICE
C-3 Pro Vitality with C-16 Lice Diminish – My opinion is that lice come from the results of malnourishment. End of winter, poor quality feed on the ground, and supplementing with bottom-of-the-barrel rations. Prevent with C-3 Pro Vitality with C-16 Lice Diminish weekly, all winter, helps to provide some kind of supplemental Once covered in Lice – need to apply both to salt and consider spraying cattle with the remedy direct in concentration.
C-4 Finishing Booster could be used on salt, alternating with C-3 Pro Vitality and C-16 Lice Diminish.

MOLDY HAY
Please do not be insulted that your hay could be (or not) moldy. ALL GRASS CONTAINS MOLD; worse as it ages or is poor quality used at the end of the season. The challenges are RESPIRATORY coughing and sneezing, and worse MISCARRIAGE with unexpected open cows.
RESPIRATORY Challenges – Note if freshly weaned, use the weaning remedy C-15 Weaning Ease (which is WHY they get sick). Be sure to do C-15 Weaning Ease; use ahead of weaning for prevention for prevention of pneumonia symptoms.
C-14 Moldy Hay Relief with C-12 Respiratory Relief – Usually occurring in older cattle previously vaccinated. Remember to clean animals with intranasal dose of C-1 Immune Detox and C-2 Immune Boost. All animals will perform better for you. Prevention – Okay to add medicated mineral salt and keep it out while feeding.
Respiratory Challenges – mix and spray intranasally, in addition to salt offering. Spray as many times in a day as you can. I’ve heard all the challenges. Do your best to never need that antibiotic!
The more you use the remedy the faster the response. Expect results of daily dosing to be 24-48 hours improved and on the mend. If not, consider adding C-9 Mastitis & Infection Relief in place of C-12 Respiratory Relief.
C-9 Mastitis & Infection Relief – Alternative option for unknown source of infection.

NEW CALVES
C-2 Immune Boost with C-3 Pro Vitality – At first opportunity to handle calves, intranasal
Consider: If mom’s vaxxed, please use C-1 Immune Detox with C-2 Immune Boost.
Wait for C-3 Pro Vitality at next opportunity.

WEANING
PRIOR TO WEANING for cows, starting 3 weeks ahead – Medicate the mineral salt, making available once a week, 3 times prior to weaning.
For the CALVES – mix C-15 Weaning Ease with C-2 Immune Boost, need intranasal dose direct from the spray bottle. Attempt 2 doses 5 min apart. This procedure will diminish stress, bawling, crying, and respiratory challenges.
The goal is an easy transition and no treatment necessary for pneumonia.
Apply C-15 Weaning Ease with C-2 Immune Boost onto the mineral salt weekly, for the next 4 weeks, for the calves; as they will begin to consume the medicated salt. Water medicated in small batches could be an option. Please call for protocol.
Follow up with C-3 Pro Vitality on the weekly doses of mineral salt.

WORMING (vs. POUR ON)
Apply to salt with C-3 Pro Vitality, 1x a month is great.
For vulnerable to screwworm or Anaplasmosis; Use C-29 Anaplasmosis Treat & Relief with C-5 Alternative Wormer. For Anaplasmosis positive cattle; cull and treat 2x daily for up to 2 weeks to save the animal.
Encourage you to call for complications.

SELL BARN BOUND
Ask for a product receipt that states:
C-2 Immune Boost – Coverage for BVD, Brucellosis, Influenza, Leptospira, Clostridium.
So far, showing the receipt no discounts should be taken.

Animals using C-2 Immune Boost, once a month, will not be vulnerable mixing with conventionally vaxxed animals.
Many vaccines contain antibiotics (some listed as preservatives) which violates the drug-free status.

CUSTOM REMEDIES AVAILABLE
Bull enhanced fertility – Not necessarily enlarged testicles, but better performance.
Haemophilus is Pasteurella, and is common in feedlots. We have two remedies: Haemophilus Boost & Haemophilus Treat.
Nerve Damage with weakness in back-end usually from an injury.

FOR VULNERABLE CALVES
Mix C-1 Immune Detox & C-2 Immune Boost together and orally spray all incoming animals on arrival. I recommend you keep these animals separated with their own water source (calves do not eat the salt! ). Prepare the remedy, succuss the water, pour into a clean tub, THEN add water to fill so that the next dose is delivered. The following day, use C-15 Weaning Ease & C-3 Pro Vitality, mixed together. Succuss (shaken hard 1/2oz remedy to 1/2 gal water in a 1 gal milk jug). Pour into a clean tub and fill with water. Repeat for up to 1 week to avoid respiratory infections, de-stress and boost chances of success with sickly animals. Repeat C-2 Immune Boost & C-3 Pro Vitality with every opportunity over the next 30 days.
Add C-4 Finishing Booster & C-3 Pro Vitality weekly. Add C-2 Immune Boost 1x monthly, staying infection free. In the winter, adding C-14 Moldy Hay Relief C-2 Immune Boost is a great idea.

FOR BOTTLE FED CALVES
Must source unmedicated milk replacer. All others contain meds (antibiotics and coccidia treatments). On medicated feed, the calves are chronically relapsing. The remedies can be sprayed while bottle feeding with great success. Okay to medicate these vulnerable animals once a week. If sick, medicate with C-15 Weaning Ease and C-14 Moldy Hay Relief daily.
